This morning I turned up for work and was told that some of us were going on a road trip to visit a industrial biodiesel reactor, which sounded really cool. The last few days have been great, started work properly. I'm helping a PhD student with analyzing hydrogen production from industrial waste streams and will be doing this for the first month (-ish), then Biodiesel stuff. I start work at 8am Brazilian time (which is really about 8:15). The campus is quite nice, it has pretty good facilities and a few of the people speak ...
... is proving very difficult, Brazil is not like europe or the far east where most people can speak some English, lots of people here speak none. I think it may be different in the big costal cities because the brazilians who speak english best tend to be from Sao Paulo city. Sorry for the lack of punctiation and bad spelling, i am still not used to a portuguese ...
... Met a few chemistry students at the party and they spoke good English, which is reassuring! For lunch I walked to the supermarket myself, bought a few things (tried to topup my phone but gave up due to translational issuses) and had more rice, beans and fried chicken. From Brotas we start heading to the Pantanal (The world's largest wetland area). It was a good two day drive and we spent the night bush camping behind a church.
