Twice over Stelvio in one day

... hotel and I went to pay my bill when the kind lady at reception says "you not having any breakfast?". I never even realised breakfast was included and so I went downstairs and sat at a window seat which looked out over the wonderful road down the East side of the pass.

Breakfast eaten and I went out and started up my bike. The engine must have been really cold as it was simply just ticking over very slowly at about 400rpm. Normally when I fire it up it goes into high ...

It was all about the scenery as we spent our last week in Italy in the Dolomites and the Lakes Region.

As we headed north from Bologna, the landscape changed and by the time we arrived in Bolzano (also known as Bozen) we were surrounded by craggy mountains and stunning views. Our hotel was right on the town square which gave us a great view of the hills and mountains. The next day we took cable car, then a ...

      Back to Austria?

A travel blog entry by rolandandlinda on Sep 18, 2014

Time to leave Valle Verde. Decided to give Austria
another try as we are hearing that the weather has improved. However, with low
cloud this morning, there is little point in going over the high Dolomite
      passes.

Decided to go north through Moena and then west over a lower
pass to Bolzano. As expected, the low cloud made for little viewing of the
      mountain peaks.

Went north to Bressanone but stayed on a ...

      From Venice to the Dolomites

A travel blog entry by jojo-travels on Sep 15, 2014

... It was absolutely a perfect way to start our time here in the Dolomites! We drove to a town - a few kilometers away, parked the cars, and started hiking up. Lots of up for quite awhile. Passed by these adorable little chalets tucked away here and there, a little restaurant or two. Beautiful scenery - especially once we hit the valley. There were views in every direction, clouds to set off the occasional blue ...

Beautiful driving, through Corvara and Colfosco

A travel blog entry by rolandandlinda on Sep 11, 2014

... Drove over three passes in total, each over 2,000 metres.
Campsite in Colfosco pleasant enough but relatively expensive at knocking on 30
euros a night with electric (double what we paid at Olympia, for a better
location). Stopped to enquire at a second around Canazei but again knocking on
      30 euros..
