... to...well...Staten Island. Top tip: this gives awesome views of the Downtown skyline and is completely free. Worth every cent. Although the view of the new One WTC is tinged with poignancy. ... striking up a conversation with strangers. It's so refreshing compared to London where everyone keeps their head down and if you speak they look at you as if your doing something wrong. These two guys next to us asked us how our meals were and where we were from and were just being nice! We have had it at a few places but it's something that they don't put on but it's a part of their nature. More places should be like this!

... we killed some time shopping, we went to Walmart to buy movies and chocolate. We came back to the hotel with Gone Girl and Left Alone (both of which we watched), and candy: dove chocolates, cream-filled pastries, brownies and turtles. ... rather warm here in NY, but then we reminded ourselves that we are in October! Fortunately by the time we came to queue for tickets for another Broadway show, the rain had stopped. We had a list of shows we wanted to see - The Jersey Boys, The Motown Story, Cabaret. Then we spotted a play that we'd not heard about featuring a very handsome Ewan McGregor. How could we not? ... 13 years ago. I was up early in the hope that Ashleigh would get a little lie in and would be ready to go somewhere else by the time I return. I arrived at the memorial site around 8am. Apart from a few security guards and armed police hanging around, I had the whole place to myself.
