... In the morning I woke before the general PA wake up call at 8am because I had set an alarm with the view of beating the breakfast rush. While Steve was still mustering up the courage to get out of his bunk I ventured on deck to find that it was very windy and snow was billowing! I suppose this shouldn't really have come as a shock but it did at that hour of the morning, albeit a welcome shock. I had chosen to pre-purchase breakfast at the time of booking to save money and ...
Oslo, Oslo, Norway v1213If I'm going to write a travel blog about everywhere I go this year, I thought I should at least start from the beginning. After missing my easybus to Stansted airport at 11 o'clock at night, only to be told that the next one wasn't until 3am, I was very lucky to find an easybus driver who was dropping off some people at Victoria. Luckily for me he was heading back to Stansted anyway, 'I shouldn't be doing this' he said as I ...
Oslo, Oslo, Norway lallie... all you can eat buffet. I ate so much food. It was very average but all you can eat is too tempting to pass up. After that we headed back down to the cabins to drink and have fun amongst ourselves and the other cabins. CBS had basically taken up the whole bottom floor of the cruise ship so there were plenty of familiar people wandering around visiting cabins. That night went to the boat's premier nightclub, Heaven 11. We had a good time dancing and then the boat ...
Oslo, Oslo, Norway tom_white_5588... through it which was fantastic. Then went to the Kon-Tiki Museum to see the famous raft used to test theories of Pacific exploration. Was O.K. Just very tired so not as enthuastic. Next stop- the Vikingskipshuset Museum to see three viking ships excavated from Oslo Fjord region which had been used as tombs for viking nobility and had been remarkably preserved in the blue clay of the environment (lack of oxygen in the clay). Oh My Gosh ...
Oslo, Oslo, Norway ka.duncan... and provisions to last 5 years. In Oslo, Marilyn and Bill opted out of the maritime museums and visited Vigeland Park, an open air display of over 200 nude sculptures by the famous sculptor, Gustav Vigeland. The existence of this lovely park and its somewhat shocking depictions of naked bodies in every state of life and emotion struck those who visited it as somewhat ironic in that by nature the Norwegians are quite reserved and conservative in nature.
Oslo, Norway lacasarodante... he lived in with his wife). We did the guided tour, included in the Oslo Pass, and found it interesting. The guide did it in English for our benefit, but I felt she was not able to pass as much on to us because of he language barrier. Michael found it especially odd that she talked very little about his actual works, instead focusing on the man and his life in the apartment. I still found it interesting, and the museum exhibit was further enhanced ...
Oslo, Oslo, Norway ohiolair... were apparently more for ceremonies than journeying. They are spectacular ships and were well worth the look. After a short spot of rain we decided to head to the Frogner Park, where there are some really wacked out sculptures by the artist Gustav Vigeland. There a bit hard to explain, so just check out the photos! They were very impressive, like nothing I've ever seen. The park itself is amazing too. But the sculptures ...

Oslo, Norway oyvindsandve... the views were incredible! I fell through a snowbridge which was fun, dangerous, but fun! The breathtaking views and reaching the top was unbelievable. I've made a note to self to definatly go back to walk up the glacier, that's if it's still there. Global warming around, and who knows what 's going to happen??
Oslo, Norway lauraexplorer... for the room as well as something to drink; I ended up getting an orange soda similar to Orangina but Norwegian and a bottle of local spring water, which was very good. I also tried to see if I could get a calling card to use for the pay phone at the hostel, which I couldn't find any-people knew what I was talking about but no one seemed to have any. My final stop was at Karl Johanns gate, where I got some take out, which ...
