... Helsingborg is closest to Denmark and every 20 minutes car and passenger ferries cross Oresund strait to Helsingor. Its a good and cheap option for crossing between Sweden and Denmark and I guess the only option until the Oresund bridge was built. Four km across the strait you can see Hamlet's Elsinore castle ( Kronoborg castle) at Helsingor.

After lunch we headed up the coast via Tylosand. Tylosand is a 6km sandy beach which would be gorgeous in ...
Falkenberg, Halland County, Sweden wizalllThe weekend has been so relaxing! It's my first time to go to a Spa-hotel and I thought it was liberating to be able to go around wearing robes ;) massage, gym, sauna+freezing cold ocean+hot tub, swimming pool and the food was delish... I really have no complains at all!

Bastad, Skåne, Sweden jaunie_rockbabe... the first day we had to eat musili for breakfast. YUCK!! We only canoed for the last half of the day because we spent the first half of the day making sure that we all had the right equipment - didn't stop the guys leaving two stoves in the mini bus. The boat was so full of all our stuff. We were in pairs (I was with Kat) and we had one drysack each, a food bag (the same size as our tent) between us and a tent between us. Not to ...
Fagen Lakes near Gothenburg, Sweden capricorn101When the train arrived in Halmstad, Jenny's uncle Lasse and his wife Lotten were waiting for us on the platform, from which point we've been totally pampered by them. Sunday Lotten's son Mattias and his girlfriend Jeanette came and drove us to see Malmo where there is a cultural festival with food from all over the world, live music, the works. Otherwise, we've been keeping clean, well fed and well slept, up to date with photos and ...
Halmstad, Sweden dconliskSTOCKHOLM The Ferry from Stockholm to Tallinn was fun. Leaving Malmo was no small task. We do not use maps, we sort of head in the right direction and then stop and ask for directions. (I know how this goes against the grain if you are a guy) but it seems to work. Eventually we found the highway and it was a very beautiful drive. Seems that Sweden is flat in the southern part, then has trees and ...
STOCKHOLM, Sweden jrgoWe've gotten snow for the past few days, which adds a level of difficulty to our task. For one, nasty, uneven terrain lies in wait under a smooth blanket of snow. Each step has the potential to send your leg to the bottom of a 12" deep pocket of water, or into a hole between roots and rocks. So walking around can be a challenge, particularly when carrying a ...
Hyltebruk, Sweden yehawwWe spotted some moose today. A cow and her calf. I guess it's pretty rare to see them, although we see hoof prints and droppings all over the place in the forest. If you walk in a straight line for more than 50 feet, you will have passed a few piles of moose droppings, which happen to look like little chocolate easter eggs. These moose just stood there and looked at us. We also saw a ...
Hytlebruk, Sweden yehaww... follows along in another tractor that picks up the logs and puts them on a trailer. My back hurts and my arms a little weak. I'm using muscles that I don't use all that often. Toward the end of the day, we saw a car drive by very fast that looked very similar to Jonas's car. Turns out someone stole his car and drove it right past us as we worked. We had it parked to the side of a dirt road about 50 yards from where we were working ...
Hytlebruk, Sweden yehaww... them on at a nominal charge - I don't member exactly how much - and thus saved all farther trouble. After marking with pencil on my pocket map all the stations for changing, and ordering a "Hast med Vogn" (horse and trap) to be at the door at "Klokken halv-sex" (or half-past five) in the morning, we returned to our lodging. The cold was now intense. I felt it piercing through my coat and rug as though they had been but sheets of paper, and got indoors with my teeth ...
Angelholm, Sweden travellerbruceWednesday Whilst waiting in Budapest airport for our flight to Copenhagen we overheard someone talking about some painted monasteries in Romania (that we wanted to vist), so we turned to ask some questions and were faced with a japanese looking man foaming at the mouth and getting really excited. My immediate thought was, Rabid! Rabid, Run for your life!!!! But we wanted to find out a bit more so we braved the spray and I resisted the temptation to offer him a tissue. He claimed to ...
