We made a three day stop in the capital of Australia, Canberra. One day we spent hiking in a nature reserve outside of town. We had a wonderful hike to the Gibraltar Rocks. ... alten und dem neuen Parliament sehen konnte. Also haben wir wieder den Bus genommen, was diesesmal leichter war, weil es nur eine Haltestelle gab. Das War-Memorial ist eher ein Museum ueber die Kriege, bei denen Australien dabei war, mit vielen Austellungsstuecken und Modells, war alles sehr interessant. Danach gings zurueck ins Hostel, wo wir dann unser Mittagessen (Nudeln mit Sosse) hatten und uns noch Brote fuer die Fahrt nach Melbourne gerichtet haben.

A detour took us through the old village of 'Tilba Tilba', which has been preserved by the National Trust. ... take a few pics of Canberra, but things came to a head when the most exciting photo was one of Laurie in a car park! If you like buildings, trees, buildings with trees etc then you will love Canberra! Seen one building, seen them all, we say! We skipped & jumped to the bus station to catch the overnighter bus to Melbourne!! Wahey we are out of here Baby! Saying that...we had a 10 hour bus journey ahead of us!! And as we thought ...

... of the telstra tower- with magnificent views of this great city and the surrounding landscape. There is so much more to see and do here it is a pity we cant stay longer but this was always going to be a short visit on the way to Sydney- don't forget we want to be there in time for Australia day! We have spent allday looking around and we are all very tired but not fancying another night in the same motel we leave the city, reaching goulburn as its getting dark... and another grotty motel!!!

Due to last night's festivities we woke up late today. This is fine since it has become a Brotz family tradition to wake up as late as possible on Christmas morning (a reversal of when I was a kid, when we'd rip into our presents at about half past 5).
