Quality Hotel Central Lucerne

... is pretty charming. For dinner, the hotel made us turkey and mashed potatoes and a "Thanksgiving Cake". not quite like home...
Every morning we have to listen to presentations for three hours, which are really interesting about half of the time, and the other half of the time we are all trying to entertain ourselves with Sudoku and hangman.


Well, that's all that's really gone in my life over the last week...

... day the weather was actually pretty good, it had rained most of the night, but it was still ok to go up to Mount Pilatus, and that's what we did! Once we received our tickets from our very helpful tourist info agent, we jumped on the bus, and from the bus we walked to the gondola's and from the gondola's we took the small 4 seater gondola's up half the mountain. ... and enjoyed the gorgeous views and crisp cold air...I LOVED it! To warm up before we headed down we looked around inside at the gift shop and all that fun stuff. Then we boarded the cog-wheel train to take us back down the other side of the mountain. This cog-wheel train is said to be the steepest in Europe...maybe the world, not too sure on that one. Once we were at the bottom, we hoped on a train that took us back to Lucerne main train ...

This story starts with KB and I on our first and only sleepin car experience... From Rome to Interlaken... it was interestin, fun and well we made it! There were 6 of us in the sleepin car, it was tight, but at least me got a bed, we both had the middle beds... there was an old lady on the train that was funny... when she snored she sounded like a tiger purring! I think KB enjoyed it!

At Interlaken, we switched to the train from Interlaken to Jungfraujoch, and got off at the Lauterbrunnen stop after a short 20 minute ride. We love Switzerland—easily the most beautiful scenery of this whole trip, all the way from Luzern to Lauterbrunnen. We borrowed some mountain bikes from reception which wasn’t quite what I was expecting. I was kind of hoping for bikes similar to the ones we used on the Fat Tire Bike Tours. I gave it a go though and we set off.

Lucerne is a nice city built on a lake with mountains all around. I got all settled in the hostl, which was very nice but totally dead. I didnt see anyone other than the receptionist.
