... way to the shuttle buses since we didn't want to be in a line of 40,000+ waiting for a bus to the train station. We managed to get on the first bus and the first train back. Some other people in our hotel who went to the game weren't so lucky and arrived back at the hotel a full 2 hours after we did.

Waiting at the hotel were Suzy and Lila who finally made it to Recife after a 29 hour ordeal.

Brazil offers so much to do and see that sometimes we forget we came here primarily to go to watch World Cup matches. Today was colored by this minor conflict. We woke up with an agenda full of sights to visit in historic Recife (Recife Antigo), but soon remembered we should try to buy tickets to the Italy vs. Costa Rica game occurring here the next day. Today was an early start - okay not so early by work standards but early by lazy sea day ones - much muttering and moaning from the monkey!!!! Today was our first day in South America, so very exciting! Recife, Brazil is made up of 3 islands and is inhabited by approximately 3million people.
