... for the third place slot so the Germans were avoided, but we all wanted to beat the Swedes as well, mainly because we knew we could!
The game itself felt fairly tense up in the stands. The girls looked tired. Alex was obviously struggling with her groin injury, especially throughout the second half, Kelly's knee wasn't 100% (not that you could tell during the second half) and Neets' knee was still not allowing her to play. The starting line-up was the ...

Caught the train from Helsinki to Turku which only took about two hours. They have very nice trains. Easy city to navigate. I'm going to check out the harbour and book a spot on one of the ferries heading for ALands. Unfortunately I can't go today because the ferries only depart at 0815 and 2015. So I'm staying in Turku today which is fine because I forgot that I wanted to see the castle. Now I'm just waiting for the hostel to open so I can drop my bag off. It's getting lighter every day.
... is a medieval architectural museum. It is built around some early medieval buildings that are still being excavated. The excavations are of limited interest by themselves but the museum has done an exceptional job relating life during this period to those excavations. I could imagine being in the town.
My ferry for Stockholm leaves at 9 and I am supposed to be there 45 minutes early for check in. I go back to my hostel, grab my bag and decide ...
... for breakfast & lunch, I bought a kahvli (coffee) & David bought a pastry & so we could sit at tables & chairs at the stall to have our brunch. Our Turku card included bus fares, so we took the bus from the markets out to the castle. David followed our progress on a map, but it wasn't difficult as we went from the first to the last stop of bus number 1. The Turku card also included entry to the castle - founded in 1280 & added to over the centuries, until the 16th ...
Turku, Finland austegaI found Travel Pod after my trip to Northern Europe, but I thought I would just write here so that people know they can ask me if they have any questions about Finland. I studied in Turku Finland for a semester at Abo Akademi University. I lived 4km from the school and town, and the public transportation is what I used, it was not bad at all. I also had a few travels from Finland, that I will post in other blogs. Have fun on your travels and be sure to check in!

We arrived in Turku on the bus. The beautiful port city with a central street, the castle and the quay, which is more like a museum ship in the open air))
Here is the ferry to Stockholm was waiting for us)

"I planned each ...
Turku, Western Finland, Finland ilari... islands with only a couple of houses on them. Our main goal of arriving at Turku was to check out the ship yards where they make Royal Caribbean Cruise ships. After a little bit of a hike to the hotel we managed to find our room. The rest of the day was spent trying out Finish customs of extremely hot saunas.
Turku, Western Finland, Finland corrHelsinki 5/9 10 A.M. We drove off the Viking King and spent 30 minutes getting acquainted with the city. We finally found the train station and parked right in front of it. There we got info about the city. The city was cold, cloudy and the trees were still bare. It was almost like winter. We were all a little disappointed in the gloomy weather and the city looked more like a Russian city, buildings clumped together trying to stay warm. We decided ...
