... 8217; off the boat we went for one last walk through Gamla Stan and then headed back to the car, which was no longer in the shade. We then drove to the ferry with trusty Petty leading the way. Even getting a bit lost (it wasn’t us, Petty was really not on her game today) we arrived early for the ferry, so early in fact that we were the first in line. So, after about a 30 minute wait (yes, we were very early), we were the first to be ...

... next day, it rained on & off, so even the 50 people who were have left. So, it's all getting packed up much earlier than expected. We were shocked to see that everything in the city was closed, even the restaurants, & supermarkets. It meant that we couldn't do any sight seeing, as everything we went to was closed. Last morning in Helsinki

Another late morning today, as we got a lazy start after a good night's sleep. No construction noise this morning either. The temperature has cooled to much more pleasant seasonal averages, and the day was sunny and bright. We had to scramble a bit to get all packed up and checked out by eleven. It appears they closed the rest of the bars to push everyone down to one end where they had entertainment? We saw a couple of bands perform and had a few cocktail type drinks? The prices on the ship were extremely reasonable! We were arriving in Stockholm at about 06.15 am so I headed to bed to get a couple hours ...

... It was the capital during swedish rule, until the russians moved it to helsinki in the eighteen hundreds. We bought lunch from a little market. It was like a doughnut with minced meat in it;really good. The fins apparently drink 8 or 9 cups of coffee a day so i tried to keep up. I don't know why the coffee is so good in europe. It's just not the same back home. Took the train the next day bound for helsinki. The train had smoking compartments; what a place!
