Our road trip started with a bit of a bump. After stopping off at an awesome beach we had been told about in Guatemala and then checking out a turtle sanctuary. It was so cool and there were so many huge turtles. We carried on with our trip and things got a little crazy. ... the truck we spent an hour & a half doing circles of Salvador's favelas trying to find our way out of the city, but we finally headed on out. Stopping at Praia de Forte we visited a turtle conservation project; we walked around pools containing 5 different species & learnt about how the project protects the nesting & hatching process - intending to see some nesting or hatching up in French Guiana! ... days I struggled a lot with my leg. Head and coldpads made it better, but I couldn't walk very long.

So it was time to leave, I loved the people around me, and my leg could use some rest, but my next stop would be Salvador, a city everyone speaks highly of. And on Monday I had a flight scheduled so if I wanted to see a bit of this city, I had to leave, so I did. But I will always love Monique and Rodrigo and never forget their hospitality and our bikeride!
