... for the following 3 days where on the Friday Kamil flew up for the weekend.
We booked ourselves into a backpackers and headed out for the night.
Ive never had such a **** time at a backpackers before in my life than i did at this one on this weekend.
This was the second time i had stayed at this hostel and was put in the same room which is out the front of the building. All the fun and games happen in the back of the building till 10 pm because of the neighbors, so everyone, on ...
We stopped in Newcastle on the way north from Sydney and looked for our project site along the Hunter River. We decided to watch a rugby game between the Newcastle Knights and Brisbane Broncos. There was a huge thunderstorm in the middle of the game, and we are sure that lightening hit ...
Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia bradandsandi... Kyly, Laura, and myself decided we wanted to go out later that night so we made a plan to go take naps, shower, have dinner, and then meet up later for a couple of drinks as a little going away party before we all continued up the coast. We end up convincing Brad and Whitney to join us on our outing and end up having fun even though we were unable to go into the first bar we were able to get a drink at the second and enjoy eachother's company. All in all this was a great day in Newcastle.
Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia ajmoya86I vanished from the electronic world some months ago. Plagued by issues of some variance or other, I have been too occupied with other junk to catch up with my blog, let alone wish people happy holidays. I'm not actually writing this December 1st. It's really late January. I know, I'm a bad person, but ...
Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia fuzzyhatjonI woke up this morning to the sound of "bucketing" rain. The power was out. I've been on the road for one year now, but it doesn't feel as "landmark" as I was expecting for some reason. The disconnected power line flopping around outside reminds me that I have no health insurance now. It lapsed yesterday. I was planning to sign up with World Nomads, but they require that my BC health insurance be current and valid, which it isn't. Apparently most travel ...
Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia fuzzyhatjon... narrow drive up the hill. Graham then drove to One Mile Beach and a private koala sanctuary owned by a friend who also rents cottages on the property. On the way there, we spotted a koala high up in a tree alongside the highway, and of course we all had to jump out and try to get photos. Then as we drove up the drive to O'Carrollyn's, we spotted a large koala (Betsy) jump from a tree and run along side the road in the opposite direction. We ...
Newcastle, Australia jalaw... They then went into the car for a bit (we couldn't hear this bit) then Jack got out (on one take he hit his head - aww!) and shook his head, then walked away. The crew had lunch so we wandered around the surf club and had lunch on the beach. We stopped by the walk way down to the beach for lots of photo taking. The next scene involved Martha (miserable cow with a big coat and a PA who ran round after with an umbrella (ella ella)) and Jonah (yes Gill Jonah! Can ...
Palm Beach, Australia sarahandaimee... our visitor remains unidentified, there is good reason to suspect a shark. Especially after the crazy stories Mick told us over dinner the night before........how he was out in a small tin boat fishing while a giant 12 foot Tiger shark charged the boat like in the movie Jaws....and how he swam 900 metres out to sea with some buddies to spear a 42 Kilo Octopus that ended up attacking him before he could swim all the way back to shore ...
Newcastle, Australia mikelaurence... I looked for a bikini but the selection wasn't great. We found a cool used book store and some other neat places, then we biked back to the hostel where Jim explored the other side of town and I took a cool shower. It sure was hot out. When he came back, we did some reading and writing on the top balcony for the afternoon. I found a newspaper which reported another war in Iraq and some local news. There wasn't anything in there about Canada or NASCAR. Jim went to ...
Collaroy Beach, Australia sunsetbeach... did a boat party on the harbour, only %150! Was great - free alcohol and food all night! Was fantastic! We saw the best fireworks in the world, from the Sydney Harbour Bridge, all with the 'Heart of Sydney' theme - there was even heart shaped fireworks set off! There was one hiccup however, the generator on our boat broke an hour into the cruise, so we had no electricity - hence no lights or music the whole night!! The free drink made up for it though! The 'Fun ...
