... booking, we discovered where we had to head. Luckly just after reaching the hostel, the heavens opened and it chucked it down.
We had only booked to stay for one night as we are making our way up to Tromsø. So during the day (right now) we visited the only sights that are here. The Nidaros Cathedral and the old town and ...
... boats, North Sea bound structures, rock formations, diverse architecture and most interesting cloud formations.
As we have been heading north an initial stop on Day 2 was a Torvik. It is a 'fly on the wall' type of place, seemingly out in nowhere but closely tied into the mainland. The Nordkapp or Coastal Express as it is called stopped for 30 minutes, just enough time to leap onto land, check out the local sights, take some photos and climb back ...
... from over 1,000 years ago, among other things. Bodo was heavily bombed in World War II (2/3 of the town's buildings were destroyed) so it has a very post-war feel to it.
Thanks to the diverted course, we arrived in Stokmarknes, home to the Hurtigruten museum, at around 8pm instead of 1:00 am. As a consolation prize for the change in itinerary ...

... bestaunen.
Røros, Norway sannyIt's been a glorious wonderful day here in Trondheim. Nothing beats this town in great weather. It's extremely cold -12 degrees with a breeze which makes it very invigorating (read insanely cold!)
I drove around Trondheim photographing all day today. I went back to some of the places from my childhood, even back to the house where I grew up.
I've spent the last few days with my family and friends in Trondheim. I'm looking forward to skiing at Oppdal on Thursday.
... art and craft stalls and cafes. And though it was a chilly minus 20 odd degrees I quickly got accustomed to the cold and I am glad to say the Kathmandu thermals held up quite well. Tomorrow (Friday, also incidentally Australia Day) I am going to school with Tjord, Wenche's son. That should be interesting so I may have to think up some stories about Australia and I have very few props but Im sure it ...
Rørøs, Norway mooskaa... talk as usual. I want to rely thank the organizers. It was rely a good trip. And I had a rely nice time with all the people. I hope to join for further trips. Good Bye :) update: I have uploaded some more pictures. But due to the bad light conditions I needed to work over them. They look a little artifitial through that.
Lake: Femunden (no city), Norway -oedipus-... it really is not very attractive, but it explains a lot of how Røros is. We had a guided tour all around and learned a lot about the houses, how they were built, and how to tell the difference between a rich family house compared to a poor family house. Our hotel was just up the hill, it was very cute. The rooms were large, but the bathrooms were out in the hall. Just like a normal house. We had lunch and breakfast the next day ...
Røros, Norway jess06... birch forests that surround it. It also gave me an opportunity to visit with Ingrid's parents once more and thank them for the last time I saw them when they gave Joe and I a place to stay. Ingrid told me that her mom made the comment that I was much more talkative this time...perhaps because it was just me and the two of them. In any case, I really enjoyed visiting them again. They are the nicest people. They had just been ...
