David & Dad in Copenhagen!

THURSDAY, JULY 2

On Thursday I got to meet up with my big brother, David, in Copenhagen; I haven't seen him since January!  I was so excited and even though our plane was late getting in we took the metro into the city so that I could show him around.  We had Shawarma at Becky and my favorite Shawarma place and soft ice with chocolate powder and then walked around the harbor and Stroget.

FRIDAY, JULY 4

On Friday we ate breakfast in the hotel and then packed up all of ...

Velkommen til København!

... part are walking only so you need a good pair of walking shoes (that will keep your feet warm and ones that don't slip through the cracks)! If you find a street that is driving please remember to look the other way as they drive on the wrong side of the road here - they even have on the escalators that you stand to the right and walk to the left at the metro stations! And remember to keep your eyes open and follow your nose - it really is a ...

Ferry ride and night train

... ride. The train we took went north through Lübeck to the port at Puttgarten, then the whole train got on a ferry! We had to get off and we were able to walk around the ferry and shop, buy food, etc. Most importantly, we bought some Danish kroners, which are very expensive! Then, we got back on the train and got to Copenhagen! The city is VERY nice, VERY clean and quaint. We saw the Christiansburg Slot, the old castle where the seat of government still works ...

Wonderful, Wonderful Copenhagen

... a 7 degree lean towards the water. When the sun reflects off the water and onto the building, from our viewpoint on the water, it looked like hundreds of diamonds flashing from the building's façade. After the boat tour, we visited the Danish Architecture Center and viewed an exhibit on "Building Sustainable Communities," a collaboration of the United Nations Global Compact and Danish architectural firms. It ...

Copenhagen

Sorry for the poor photo quality but again most pictures were taken in the rain. Scandinavia is very green for a reason. With sunny skies there would be so many awesome photo ops. Copenhagen is a charming city that is expensive yet packed with tourists. The old town has a lot of character and beauty while the 'new' town has a totally different look ...

I'm with the happiest people in the world!

... state in Copenhagen. Back in the 70's, a group of people began living in abandoned military barracks in the city and the government just stopped bothering them after a while. I don't think they pay any taxes. It was a very strange place. We have a tour of it through the school later in the program, so I might know more about it after that. That was the first afternoon we could spend downtown, so another girl and I stayed there and walked around for a while ...

Happy in Herlev. Goodbye to Copenhagen

... 8 passes before a shot, etc. We used the latter part of the game to practice some plays and defense that we badly needed. Shelby, Kari and Britt are three bodies with the same mind when it comes to inside assists, and our guards are fast and tough. It's a joy to have these quick and dead-eye Garings on the team, shifting Sophie, Ilsa and Alyx to the wings. The boy Nighthawks once again had a close first half, leading just 30-27, but ran off in ...

... in has a communal kitchen so we have met several interesting people, including two girls from Iceland who spoke excellent English, and a young man from Israel. We will be checking out tomorrow and travelling to Aarhus, and then back to Copenhagen. Scandinavia is still expensive......it cost Dylan and I $30 combined to do two loads of laundry! That is it for now, the next blog should be coming from Berlin or Prague.

Rumble in Copenhagen

... priced pint in the Tackiest bar in Stockholm called O'Leary's. After meeting Nikolaj we trudged our bags over to the other side of Copenhagen and met some of his friends and had more beer. One thing that struck me and Murray as weird was the fact that everyone was drinking on the streets and it is in fact legal to do so. Me and Murray quickly got used to this rule and "when in Rome". feeling refreshed we decided to carry on the night and went to this bar on the out ...

I love Denmark.

... with canons and well kept outdoor and indoor museums. This is the spot for historical and cultural "buffs". And then we went to a local smokery... Dark rye Bread with onions and smoked flatfish. I am going back for that. Beaches are great. Bakeries are open early morning with breads, buns and all kind of blueberry Danish and pastries. If I was to lieve in Denmark -I was to become very, very fat. I love Denmark. I love fat people.
