    ... the west side of Houston by 6:00 and miss the Monday morning traffic. San Antonia is the target destination for Monday. It is another place on my bucket list I have longed to visit. Looking forward to the Riverwalk and perhaps a riverboat ride and "The Alamo". I met Pee Wee when I was 10 and she always told me stories about her visit to the Alamo...     We got an early start yesterday and said goodbye to Texas. It was overcast, hot and humid as we made our way through Houston's morning traffic. Over 2 million people live in Houston, and I'm sure all of them were on the road with us!     Yesterday we traveled from Mississippi and across Louisiana almost to Texas -- it was a fairly long drive, but Sassy and Odie were good travelers.     Wednesday feb 18 the weather was warmer. We packed up and headed to Oak Alley Plantation (1200 acres) about an hour west of New Orleans. We arrived around 10:30. We did a guided tour of the home first then explored some of the grounds and perused the outbuildings that would have been slave quarters. Then we had lunch at the restaurant there before heading on our way. We drive as far as Vinton LA and arrive there around 6:00pm. Had homemade chili for ...
