... proved a little challenge to spot the stone cairns marking the route but it was good to walk on un tarmaced paths which were more part of the trail around East Rim. We could see the blue salt lakes in the valley where they are extracting the potassium sulphate deposited by the ocean all those years ago when sea covered this part of the earth. A turquoise blue patch amidst the sandstone surrounds.  We returned to the visitors centre to look around and learn more about ...

We drive by the visitor center mid-afternoon to check out the gift shop, see some educational displays and videos, and enjoy the cool air conditioned building. After a half hour there we were all feeling better.
