      Cottesloe Beach is the "pin-up beach" of Perth, and it's easy to see why - Very picturesque, broad white sand beach, with 3 tiers of grassed areas behind the sand for those who don't like sand - perfect !! Apparrently Cottesloe is also the "trendy/yuppie" area of Perth, too. We thought Scarborough looked like that as we drove through, but no, apparently Cottesloe is it.

These things aren't unique to hostels by any means, but being in a confined space and having 50 people squeezed into an area where you might only have a dozen doesn't help. But its a city hostel, its a lot cheaper than hotels, so serves a purpose. Not all hostels are like this, especially once you get outside the city.
