... harvest and the vast number of crates waiting to be filled. We also noted Fiesta Foods a large Hispanic grocer chain doing a booming business. Even down south we don't have these stores. We crossed the Columbia River into Oregon and were impressed with the beautiful ranching areas. We finally ended up at Pendleton a delightful old west type town from the early 19th century that had quite a lot of industrial plants including its 1909 woolen mill.

On Monday we drove to our next stop, Umatilla Marina and RV Park. This non KOA park was located on the Columbia River in the little town of Umatilla. Umatilla is the name of the native Americans who lived in this area. It was a pretty nice place with great views of the water. We took a walk around the park and marina and then had dinner at the motorhome. Later we drove around and explored a couple of nearby towns and went to the McNary Lock and Dam. ...
