... so long and building the hype up for so long we were all actually pretty disappointed you could only see the back of the sign- we thought there must be another way. And in fact there was but we had just taken the wrong turn and thus we hiked 1/3 of the way back down to take the other turn to the front of the mountain and just under the Hollywood sign. Took a wee break and brushed my teeth only to be interrupted by my name being paged throughout the airport. Luckily it was just a baggage issue. Longest walk ever. People stare. I figure we must've walked 2-3 ...

... of all kinds, so we parked up our bikes and discovered this was at the very end of Route 66 and a quick change into dress style no.2. Horay, we had made the end of the mother road, who'd have thought we would have finished the trail on push bikes, photo stop and congratulatory drink along the Santa Monica pier were in order. One half of the pier was packed with screaming rides and kids at the fun fair, the other was a lively long walk to the end of this extensive ...

... mini beds, and you have your own little book to snuggle up in, which is definitely nice for privacy. My only regret so far (of course with the exception that my husband is not here with me) is that I left my contact case, solution, and glasses. Fortunately we found some solution at the airport, but no luck with a contact case. Oh well, a small thing for an exciting trip ...
