Nice room, good price, fitness center still under construction. Nothing nearby for several miles except truck stops. No pool, no place to walk (too many trucks), no restaurants.

... great riding day. Routes US-60E and MO-34E were nothing special, but the scenery improved significantly when we hit MO-21N. We even ran into a working Drive-In Theater on Route 21 called, originally enough, the "21 Drive In". For $8.00 you could see not only Perfect Pitch 2, but also Paul Blart Mall Cop 2. Talk about your culture overload!
Then on to MO-49N and MO-32W which were as scenic as MO-21N, but much more hills and ...

Left Springfield this morning and took the original 1926-1930 Route 66 which was based on Illinois Route 4. This branch of Route 66 has been returned to the original Illinois Route 4 designation. The road zig-zagged it's way through Chatham, Auburn and Thayer, one of the turns having a brick road. I stopped of in Virden which has a lovely town square where I saw the monument to the coal miners involved in a bloody dispute with the mine ...

We departed Hogwarts today with the intentions of reaching Lonely Mountain by tomorrow. Whatever it took for us to get to Voldesmaug was worth every effort, for the Arkenstone was the heart of history at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. With me in the group was Hermione, Ron, Professor Snape, Sirus Black, and 13 dwarves who were friends of Gandalf: Thorin, Balin, Bifur, Bofur, Bomber, Dori, Dwalin, Fili, Gloin, Kili, Nori, Oin, and Ori. ...

... you can always recognize the truth and refuse to tell a lie about it. You need not declare that you are remaining a landowner, manufacturer, merchant, artist, or writer because it is useful to mankind; that you are governor, prosecutor, or czar, not because it is agreeable to you, because you are used to it,but for the public good; that you continue to be a soldier, not from fear of punishment, but because you consider the army necessary to ...

... were selfish: I want to see how this experience changes me as a person! It has never been the right time for me to experience this dream of doing mission work in a third world country…I was in grad school, couldn’t get the time off work, had a wedding to attend that week, had to plan my own wedding, had a baby…you get the point…we can wait our whole lives for a “when” that never comes. This may not be the best time for me to go on a ...
