This night I slept well. I guess I'd made up for my late nights the previous nights and didn't get moving until after midday. Well, that's not exactly true. I had been awoken by some early morning messaging. Early morning here was late night back at home, so I took the disturbance as a chance to get up and eat some free breakfast. I was pretty sure I dragged my eyelids all the way to the breakfast place next to the reception area. So I was adamant I was ...

The day started slow. I didn't get moving until around checkout. My first point of call was to go to a grocery store and get my regular list of groceries for my day on the road. I put groceries in my GPS but it kept taking me to convenience stores in the area. Small shops, some in dodgy areas. I had tried 3, one even called a supermarket, still, it was a small shop. ... drive did not disappoint. The US 1 which goes the whole way down the Keys and is also known as the Overseas Highway was very impressive. The road stretches across huge expanses of water (the Atlantic Ocean on one side and the Gulf of Mexico on the other) and some of the bridges are 7 miles long! The views were spectacular with scores of deserted islands in the greenest sea on either side of us. The drive was quite slow with ...

... and buildings. Key West is full of chickens! They roam the streets and you get fined $500 for merely chasing one. We had lunch at a wonderful joint called BurgerFi. We also managed to score free frozen custard for dessert! We stumbled across the original Sloppy Joe's and the Coyote Ugly bar that inspired the movie. Of course, I had to sample some Key Lime Pie before our departure but we sampled many key lime flavoured foods. We grabbed some ...

... propels the boat. Our tour guide, Fabian, brought us to see a couple of female gators and got them right next to the boat. They were smaller in size than the males, due their age. This was quite evident when we came upon a 65 year-old male gator that was pretty massive. Fabian said he may live to be over 100 years old. He had ground down his teeth as a result of having a taste for turtles. He was a big boy, check out his pictures!

Our last stop on the tour was to ...
