We saw a bobcat slinking through the woods this morning and then an eagle fished by our starboard side. Also a few small ducks and a heron hung out by the boat most of the day. Otherwise, there was not a living soul around beyond a couple of barges in the distance. I spent the day reading in my bridge solarium while ...

... call ahead to get the railroad bridge tender to raise the rail road bridge. We became nervous when we were unable to raise the bridge tender until we were almost upon the bridge. Finally, we were able to raise him. The tender apologized, admitting he was in the "can", giving up more information than we needed over channel 16. He immediately raised but the bridge so we could pass through.
