    ... We got some gas at the circle K gas station, after pressing every button the pump had to offer, and headed to the post office via Mon's.

    Chores complete we popped into Lowe's to pick-up some supplies for our impending 2,000 mile road trip. American supermarkets contain everything you could possibly need, Friskies 'Party Mix' cat treats, one gallon cartons of milk, two kilos of plastic wrapped cheese and 4 kilogram bags ...

    ... br> After about an hour of the worlds worst crossword completion Billy informed us that dinner was served. Billy and Loretta had been preparing dinner all afternoon and had done an amazing job of preparing homemade hamburgers, barbeque wieners, salad, pork rids, pork chops and homemade beans and potato salad for about fifteen people.

    Bellies full we returned to the motel room to watch a program about a religious nut job before closing our eyes for pleasant dreams.

    High on my bucket was (and I say was) Taos. Poor Tom drove about nine hours, some of them in a raging rain storm. Taos was a bust. We immediately headed for Santa Fe.
    The ride, however to Taos was nothing short of spectacular. The landscapes were like paintings. We traveled through sage brush fields and majestic mountains. We miss so much of this beautiful country when we travel by plane.

Was told that this a is a good viewing area during spring & fall migration. - Short hiking trail in the sand dumes. - Last 10 years, or so, a large number of dairy farms/feed lots moved to the area.
