... I held it and feel like I am a proper bushman now. We then came back to the lodge and set up in our rooms. We asked Louis is we could sleep in a hammock in the sleeping hall rather than the separate rooms and Kathy and I immediately jumped on it whilst Jess opted for the bed. Then for dinner, across to the mess hall for some chicken and the same sides as lunch. The Aussie camp decided to play a game of 'black *****' (it's a Canberra thing) which is basically the same ...

Fortunately, Manaus had a lot of other things going for it, beyond just the U.S. -Portugal match (which, other than the final result, has been my favorite overall soccer experience ever--more on that later). A travel blog entry by jarred.c on Jun 12, 2014

Left our hostel in valpariso, jumped on a few buses and made our way to vina del mar to Stay for the next two nights. Nice hostel, bit of a let down that there was no one else staying there though.
Went to an Easter island museum, not that amazing but got a photo with a real statue from the island so was worth it.
Watched the first game of the World Cup at a local pub, then carried on to another pub to finish the night

Day 35

... up for our afternoon boat ride. The scenery was beautiful but blistering hot in the non-sheltered motorised canoe. Lucivaldo sat at the front while a local boy steered the motor. We saw monkeys (3 types - squirrel, caupochino, night/black (??)). We also spotted lots of Dolphins! The waterline is interesting. They had heavy rainfall last year which has left a mark on the trees around 2m higher then the water level we were sailing on. Everywhere the ...
