After getting up at a ridiculous hour, we finally departed Melbourne. We flew into torrential rain and flooding at Christchurch. After a hiccup at customs (yes my face has changed), we were picked up by our tour group. We walked around the streets and found lots of noodle places! Put a lid on the pot and remove from the heat.
Let sit for about ten minutes, give it another stir and serve under the vegetable stew.

NOTE: If you have leftover polenta, press into a shallow dish and cover. It will set very firmly. This way you can use it another day but cutting it into squares or triangles and gently frying it. Yum.

... we set off through Hagley Park for the 20 min walk. We decided to have breakfast in the park, but found that the cafe was closed due to the earthquake damage - this was a common theme throughout Christchurch. However, there was a temporary cafe, working out of a shipping container which worked just as well. We were last in Christchurch in 2007 prior to the earthquake in 2011 and it was sad to see how much has been affected. Everywhere you walk there are empty ...
