    Hangzhou

I have finally reached Hangzhou. As the capital of the mighty Song Dynasty this city is the most advanced and splendid in the world. The city itself is very large, I would say nearly one hundred miles. Hangzhou is very different than any other city I have seen on the Silk Road because it is far larger and more advanced. The city has thousands of stone bridges as well as thousands of baths. Many other cities have baths ...

After a few weeks we have finally arrived in Hangzhou. It is by far the most beautiful city I have come across yet! From everything including many of the Buddhists such as Lingyin (which had a giant gold statue of the Buddha and tons of wood carvings), and the Liuhe Pagoda, (which does not seem to be as impressive after seeing the Iron Pagoda, but it is still a sight to behold), to the West Lake, (which puts the Five ...

... spectacular gardens. Brennan swam in the rock waterfall pool -- too cold for the adults to get in more than waist deep. The one knock we have of the place is that it is truly a maze. It took us 20 minutes to find our room because to get to the Lobby, you have to take an elevator to the 3rd floor and then to our room a different elevator back down to the 1st floor, very confusing the first time.

The end of another event-filled day!

The worst taxi ride of my life

A travel blog entry by sandyj03 on Nov 21, 2014

So to continue where I left off before, after much waiting on the Tarmac we finally made our way to Hangzhou. Weirdly enough this must have been a common occurrence as no one else seemed to blink an eye at how long it took for us to move. The great thing was that the flight felt super short only going for two hours or so and before we knew it we had arrived... Cue drama. When we landed we got our luggage (with Crystal and Bernice) ...

Not really a big tourist place, more like a get away from the city. I can see the appeal of staying in one of the many $500+/night resorts on the top of the mountain. I opted for the $30/night hotel at the bottom. It was quite nice. Moganshan has made onto the list of places I would return to. There is potential for camping...
