... a fairly ordinary hotel, but it’s in a fabulous position, the only hotel near the sunrise viewing point. In our room we have a box of goodies you can purchase – half a dozen different fancy condoms, all sorts of lubricants etc – obviously used by people who HAVEN’T walked up and down thousands of steps.

After a short rest, we walked on up the hill to the high point where the sunrise is watched, passing the North Pointing Rock, ...

Jessica, the CLO at the centre got us a driver to take us to Dragon's Head, Qinhuangdao, where the Great Wall goes onto the sea. We left at 7am and got there at 12.30. The Dragon's Head is the part of the Great Wall which us built into the sea, ...

After a short morning we caught a taxi to the train station. I was so happy that we were going on a bullet train for the second time. It's not the fastest train in china but it still goes 160 kmh. It's really annoying that nobody speaks English. It's also annoying that we have to sit on a train for two hours but I'm grateful that we're not on a slower train. After a long time I think my sister has fallen asleep. Now I'm waiting for the rest of my trip to ...

... with two double beds in them. Plenty big enough. Again the beds are hard which makes getting up in the morning easier as you don't want to hang around. Although the cockroaches running around the bathroom are a bit off putting. Ignore them, ignore them and they will go away. If I say it often enough it will be true. Thankfully they are fairly small not like the ones at home. And all this for only an extra 12 ...
