Every hard surface is used for drying corn, which at times leads to a rather surreal sight of a yellow roof, or simply a ...

Valitettavasti my ...
Xining, Qinghai, China kaif... it was the first time for me to be really excited in a while, probably the previous time was in Tiger Leaping Gorge while the places after that (Lijiang, Dali, Kunming, Hong Kong, Beijing, Pingyao and Xian) have mostly been nice but nothing totally different and amazing, what I expect to see during our three-week tour in Tibet.<br>

Xining, Qinghai, China jess.joyWe splashed out a hard sleeper to Xining - which was to be our last stop before Tibet. It was worth it - the beds were 3 high - 6 to a cabin - which were open to the corridor, it wasn't so crowded and it was good to stretch out and get a nights sleep. In Xining we planned just to take a few days out to relax and make sure we were in good health for Tibet - it would be my first time at a high altitude and so I needed to make ...
Xining, Qinghai, China watchoutworld... restaurant. A lot of people at my table were talking about how the food at lunch at lunch was better and how they couldn't believe that that we were expected to eat food that we were being served. I felt bad for the waitresses because I'm sure that she could hear from their tones that lots of people at our table thought that they were too good for the food they were being served.
Xining, China redirksen... will be spent picking up train tickets, visit to Thai Airways' Beijing office, and stocking up on lots of chocolate & snacks for the 30hr train ride to UB (Ulaan Bataar). Heard from Shauna that there's hardly a vacant computer terminal at Leo's, so i may have to traipse around looking for an internet cafe before I can update. Of course, I'll be MIA until i get some place in UB with an internet connection ...
