... into the forest. This was obviously still a long way below the cable car station, but almost everyone got out, so we followed suit. We noticed some people staying in buses which proceeded further up the mountain. Obviously these people knew something we didn't, and could speak Chinese.

After carefully checking out the signs and possible options, we proceeded up the stairs, with Murray finding the going on stairs easier, if anything, than walking on the ...

Jessica, the CLO at the centre got us a driver to take us to Dragon's Head, Qinhuangdao, where the Great Wall goes onto the sea. We left at 7am and got there at 12.30. The Dragon's Head is actually at Lanlongtuo. We drove through Qinhuangdao which is a bit 'back of beyond' and then arrived at an area they are developing into what looks like it will be a huge seaside / holiday home resort. The Dragon's Head is the part of the Great Wall which us built into the sea, ...

After a short morning we caught a taxi to the train station. I was so happy that we were going on a bullet train for the second time. It's not the fastest train in china but it still goes 160 kmh. It's really annoying that nobody speaks English. It's also annoying that we have to sit on a train for two hours but I'm grateful that we're not on a slower train. After a long time I think my sister has fallen asleep. Now I'm waiting for the rest of my trip to ...

... head off this makes it hard. This morning was terrible, we ended up at would you believe a 24 hour KFC. Oh you could probably hear me groaning from NZ. However I must say the bacon and egg pastry I got was Devine. Please note the capital D. Of course the hot black coffee to wash it down with was also a treat. After our lunch we drove to Horn Mountain and spent about 2 hours climbing up the wall. This was by far the best bit of the whole ...

Yeah, time to catch the bullet train from Beijing out to the coast. We decided to book a train station transfer from the hotel through a tour guide. So grateful that we did. The train station was so busy that we had not even contemplated the complete madness of it. All we had to do was what we were told and basically stand in a line and wait for our train. Mike says he now understands what a sardine feels like. ...
