Last Day

Not much to blog today except that I managed to find the Singapore GP
on the TV. Unfortunately on a German station but at least I managed to
watch it at least.

Can't remember if I mentioned on the diving days I spotted an Osprey
nest on one of the marina entrance marker bouys. On the second day
both Ospreys were standing together ...

Arrghhh.....

... talking to us in arabic as if we knew the language :) so cute. Cody got him to draw in our travel journal, and before we knew it we had a swarm of little boys all around us wanting to draw and just being curious about us. We got some great shots of them!

Sooooo it was time to get back to the bus station, and I was told that the bus at 10:30pm was full! Aggggggghhhh!!!!! Not good! So I asked if there was any other way to get to hurghada and I was told that we ...

Meryl's Birthday

Meryl's Birthday and we spent the day on the dive clubs boat going out
to Dolphin Point to do snorkelling. It was pretty good to see the fish
again like yesterday plus we got to see a few dolphins as well.

Got back to the hotel around 5pm and guess what? Another cake has
arrived! Woo hoo!

Going for dinner tonight on the side of the marina with a show as well.

Pretty fishes, well most of them

Wow and wow again, that diving lark was spectacular. I saw all sorts
of tropical fish including scorpian and lion, rays and moray eels, BIG
moray eels. Plus I got to swim with Nemo, a couple of clown fish came
up and said 'hi' it was truly amazing.

Had a Dutch instructor called Zietza who was just as crazy as his name
suggests but he was good ...

Pool diving like a duck

... I suppose fat is more bouyant than muscle.

Thankfully there was no one taking pictures of me in my outfit and
especially when I bent to take my shoes off, over balanced, fell
against my instructor and then flapped around like a duck on its back
trying to get back up. This stuff is heavy you know!

Once in the water though it was easier to move ...

Planning

... as 'Egyptland'
by the locals because it has been purpose built as a holiday resort in
much the same way that Disneyland is the acceptable facade of America.

We've booked our snorkelling trip today for Friday plus I've booked my
SCUBA sessions as well. I have a trial in the pool tomorrow and then 2
dives on Thursday.

Egyptland

One thing about multiple centre holidays is that you get to arrive
multiple times. This feels like the 3rd holiday we've been on as it's
our 3rd check in and welcome and of course another journey to get
here, this time it was 7 hours on a coach across the desert.

How to explain El Gouna? Well it's hard to believe that we are in the
same country. Cairo felt like it was the country's engine ...

Adhigam explores Ancient Egypt proper

On Sunday we arose at 4.45am....man, why do I never get lie-ins?! Our bus collected us shortly after and - complete with breakfast box - we boarded our (tour-operated) coach to Luxor with a number of other sleepy tourists. Our guide was called Mahmoud and not only fluent in English but also Egyptology, having read it at University. After attempting to regain valuable shut-eye, he awoke as 3 hours later as we entered Luxor - one of the hearts of Ancient Egypt.

We ...

Day 13

... would not let me, so had to do the walk up on the dusty windy camel trail with 750 long steps at the end to look forward to and then after freezing for 3 hours, take the 3000 steps down. Legs are killing me now ! And now a turn for the worse Back to Dahab 2 hrs, then taxi to Sharm 1.5 hrs, where we have to wait 3 hrs for the ferry, on the pavement outside port authority gate as there is no waiting room..... Ferry was good, we had 8 seats with a table all ...
