Avenue Wester Wemyss Cannes, French Riviera - Cote d'Azur, Provence, France
After brekkie it was onto Menton which is a lovely little town just before the Italian border. Menton is a much more down to earth place than its neighbours and more our scene. We found a park right on the beach and went for a wander and took in sum much needed sun. Next stop Italia!!
Menton, Provence, France darrenhough74... and not campervan parking friendly. We found a picture perfect stop just after Monte Carlo at the top of a hill overlooking the Med. We had the place to ourselves so we russelled up some brekkie in the sun which was lovely, so much so we were in t-shirts!!!
Monte-Carlo, Monaco darrenhough74... wine bottle and then we thought they were off on the trail, but no they got in the car and drove on!
At the end of the gorge we joined the road towards Cannes, which was route Napoleon, orginially created by him as a pass through the mountains...very windy. Our destination for the evening was Grasse where we found a good park overlooking the city lights and our first view of the Med.
Grasse, Provence, France darrenhough74... Sailboats were docked at the marina (knez, it made me think of you). Diane ordered mussles and Jon and I had our first mussels ever. They were delicious. Thank you Diane for helping me discover my love for sea food. St-Tropez was further than we thought, but thank god we ...
Cannes, Provence, France sofenjonWe were so excited to have another person travelling with us, that our time spent with Diane was mostly fighting over her for her attention and trying to get her to side with one of us. She was definitely a good friend to both of us ( and didnt favor me, which I thought she should have ...
Nice, Provence, France sofenjon... so we entered and relinquished our 10 Euro entry fee to enter the infamous Monte-Carlo casino only to relinquish several more euros once inside. Before leaving, we took a few minutes to appreciate the artwork and interior of the casino. For us, it felt like we were in a scene of Casino Royale with James Bond! I kept looking for Daniel Craig.

Our dinner reservations at Sabatini's was 8:30pm. The ...
Monte-Carlo, Monaco ricknelsie... night, for dinner, we went over to the Heurtier's and met Christine (Jean-Claude's wife) and their sons Jerome and Stephan-make sure to pronounce the names with a French accent when reading this. I played with Jerome for a little bit before my first home cooked French meal began. I can't remember the whole meal, but it started with really good champagne (the aperitif) and hors d'oeuvre (goat cheese, little radishes and mini pasteries). Next, we had a sort of Lyon ...
Cannes, France ross26green... is quite near the Cannes Film Festival building. We saw lots of "star" hand prints, and walked along the boardwalk past some of our (Auntie Kelly take note) favourite stores where we did lots of shopping!!! Dolce and Gabana, Dior, Luis Vitton....of course we are so loaded down with shopping we have had to buy another backpack...NOT!!! also saw manyu huge yachts out in the harbour. Our room this ...
Cannes, Provence, France rebeccandbev... which is a drink you have before your dinner, tastes like black liquorice and is super good. It is a pretty busy city and we were feeling pretty relaxed, so we diecided to drive down the coast into some smaller villages. We made it to a small village called Grimaud, this was just waht we needed after being in the car. It is basically a little village built around the water that run from the Mediterranean. We decided ...
Cannes, France blacksheep... mad Spaniard. This was partly because I was such a gentleman, and partly because she had whispered to me a moment before "don't leave me alone with the mad Spaniard". This meant that if I was going into the sea then she was coming with me. My reasons for wanting to go into the sea were rather vague - it just seemed like the sort of thing I should do. After all, it was two o'clock in the morning in some foreign country and I was enjoying the company of a group of complete strangers ...
