Yet despite their immense drawing power, these 99 islands, dominated by 478.5-sq-km Pulau Langkawi, have not been overdeveloped beyond recognition. ... another ‘boat unit’ coming our way. My Dad calls $1000 one ‘boat unit’ which seems to make things feel a lot more affordable. Hey, only 1 boat unit! Cheap!

In the evening I got the sounder/GPS working for the dinghy. I bought a Lowrance Elite 5 sounder/plotter combo, which is total overkill for the dinghy but it also acts as a backup unit for the boat. I also bought a 20 amp-hour battery in Phuket so got that all working with a jury-rigged ...
