... People constantly hassled you to buy hats gloves and coats even if you are wearing them. One English couple we met were wearing a Bromo hat they had bought and the guy was still asking them to buy a hat and they were going "but I've bought one, see I'm wearing it" haha. PPHL Seliloman is an unusual place. A completely self-sustaining organic organization in the middle of the jungle is the kind of unusual I am talking about. The accommodation included cold showers with a mundy bucket in an open-air bathroom and opening living requiring mosquito nets so as to be not to open to the creatures of the jungle. Waking with a bout of food poisoning is never fun but having to travel five hours on a train and a further two by car is the worst start to a day ever. The plan was to try to sleep it off. The arrival at PPLH Seliloman was standard and rushed as always. However the hour ...

... just this once. After standing there for about an hour and trying to find a taxi along the roadside a sister (nun) passed us with a friendly hello. She eventually came back over to us and introduced herself after we had been standing there for a while longer and consistently looking over to see if she was still around. She ended up being super helpful to us as she spoke English well and guided us to the reputable taxi drivers and sent us on ...

... needed to get out - the sulphur stings your lungs and your eyes like nothing I've ever known before.

We started our long hard climb back to the top meeting many miners just starting their day at work (it was only 3am).on the way I bought a tortoise from one of the workers made of pure sulphur that he had put in a mold, the money I gave him (65p) was a third of his daily salary - criminal!

It was an unforgiving climb but finally we made it to the top ...
