In between screams I can vaguely hear a stewardess asking if we're OK, and despite my assurances, she is convinced that I have locked myself in a minuscule cubicle on a plane in order to flush my toddlers down the toilet. She is duty-bound to prevent this, and uses the safety release to open the door from the outside to be greeted by the vision of me trying to pull Mookie's shorts up, Mookie holding bunches of my hair in terror ...

The tour by bus from Benoa Harbour was designed to illustrate these areas of Balinese culture and took us by road to villages called Ubud, Gianyar and Klungkung.

... is 50 quid. Its hard work mentally and not made any better by my feeling that I have been ripped off on the exchange, possibly by up to 100GBP, and not helped by the failure of the exchange office to give me (and I failed to ask for) a transaction receipt (what sort of an accountant AM I ???). This is going through my mind when we get to the taxi desk, where our luggage trolley is promptly seized by two porters who push it about 25 yards and demand payment ...

... sunset when the whole sky went a very strange orangey pink hue. New Zealand would have offered some incredible opportunities, if only so much of my time there hadn't been plagued by rain! There were some sunsets that were visible but nothing as spectacular as this, it is a nice way to bring Bali to a close before my very unreasonably timed flight to Kuala Lumpur! Leaving the hotel at 1am to get to the airport for my 4.30am departure doesn't seem a great prospect to me, ...

... We have s little balcony by a river surrounded by a beautiful garden. It's really beautiful and I don't think I was ever so happy in my life. Maybe on my wedding day. But not even bc it rained. We put on bathing suits and changed and We got lunch at an outdoor restaurant and tried the large beer that's famous here - bintang. Im not a beer lover but it was really good.
