Yeah lots of holes for mosquitos to get in
Very sexy looking if you spent the extra couple of quid a night and got the more expensive rooms

we stayed here for 3 nights in april '11. rooms are nice, clean and hotel staff were friendly and helpful. location is not the best - a bit of a walk to the beach, but close to semnyak restaurants & shopping.

    Days 85-101: Bali, Indonesia

It is currently the monsoon season in Bali... Following a manic dash through Darwin airport due to combined gamble of selecting a later shuttle service (in favor of Nandos rather than overpriced airport dining) in addition to the late arrival of said bus pickup, we arrived in Seminyak and gleefully settled down in our beautiful hotel that we had treated ourselves to between hostels and shared dorms. We spent the next couple of days exploring the area where we swiftly ...

... to expect. We all sat down with mats and a well built fellow sat down and introduced himself. He started with some breathing and movement of the arms which we all did and then he did the same movements with a huge deep infectious laugh and encouraged us all to join in. One could not help but smile and join in. It turned out to be many of the same moves I had done already that day with laughter worked in with the idea of keeping things positive especially when ...

... basically.. definitely the best thing ever ever ever. We woke at 2am to get to the base of the mountain at 3am and reaching the 2000m summit at 5am for sunrise. It was magical. All I would change would be my Primark plimsoles. We visited the rice paddy terraces (upsettingly touristy), the funky civet poo coffee plantation and the elephant temple. Ubud is wonderful, thank you Bali. Now off to ...

... the breakfast buffet. Either way, all four of them were sweating and snoring in the back of the van; this is why I always sit in the front passenger seat when traveling around SE Asia. We got to the harbour with five minutes to spare and we were rushed passed all the street rats selling warm drinks and stale snacks. The boat was full of Germans and old age pensioners with Westlife blaring over the intercom- prepared myself for a long few hours by pushing to the ...

... arts classes, all working on that first big novel. The only thing interrupting the vibe are the unfortunate sounds of hammers and saws that often carry through the air as new guesthouses and resorts pop up in every direction.

Away from the center, Ubud is a chill laid back place and definitely a step in the right direction. The time here has done us good, but while enjoyable it is still not quite the Bali we are looking for. The search continues.
