Ate a leisurely breakfast at Blue Banyan Inn. We will miss the Inn. It was a favorite of all our residences during our trip. We drove thru the mountains towards San Jose. We also stopped in Jaco. The city of Alajuela has all types of residential areas (picture from blog). We found the rental place where we were to leave our car (Dollar Rental). We had Dollar drop the car off in Manuel Antonio so we would not have to drive in La Fortuna or Monteverde. It workes out well for us. We were glad to...
Alajuela, Province of Alajuela, Costa Rica lauriesnym... at Tranquilos while other were out and about again in San Jose.
At about 7pm the group got taxis to a good restaurant out of the centre. Rob and Kath stayed behind to wait for the 'lost' luggage.
8:30pm Luggage arrives, apart from one rucksac. So normal service resumes tomorrow
... storms in bed at night it was really amazing. You actually felt part of it as the thunder cracked right above your head and we felt the mist of the rain coming through the mosquito netting. Costa Rica translated means Rich Coast - and it certainly is that. Rich in flora, fauna and rich in price. We really thought we'd save some money by leaving Europe, and its certainly not 2000 dollars a meal like Italy but jeez its expensive! So we are looking forward to going to Panama ...
San Jose, Province of San Jose, Costa Rica shanemilli... were leaving. They all laid around and did not want to leave the lanai. Once ready to go, at 8:15 a.m. we said goodbye to stripes, smiley and socks, our faithful vacation buddies that kept us company the entire time in Puerto Viejo. We said goodbye to Jose and Susana and then it was time to hit the road to San Jose. The drive took us approximately 200 km through Cahuita to Limon (Highway 36) and then ...
Alajuela, Province of Alajuela, Costa Rica rfritzjr... cookies which I sold for 100 colones (about 20 cents) each. All in all it was a success and gave me some much needed spending money for my upcoming travels. I planned on taking a month to travel by myself all the way up to Arizona via bus and any other means necessary to enjoy an adventure. All my hard work planning trips and learning Spanish was about to pay off. In my second year in Costa Rica I worked for a travel agency in San Jose that specializes ...
San Jose, Costa Rica lizestes... kinda weird. That night I found out that trotter would be heading back to the states in a couple days due to money reason. So I will be travelling by myself for about 2 months. I have never done that before, but I think it is going to work out wonderfully. My bus is at 6 in the morning and Trotters is at 630. He is going back to monteverde to gather his stuff and then back to san jose. peace
San Jose, Province of San Jose, Costa Rica crtravelIsla De Pascue, Chile. (Easter Island) Hola, Easter Island certainly deserves it's reputation for being one of the Worlds most isolated, inhabited Island's. A tiny speck of volcanic, dry, barreness in the vast blue of the Southeastern Pacific. Over 2,000 miles from Tahiti & Chile. It's an Island surrounded in mystery & controversy, with only one fact - they have no facts. The people of Easter Island ...
San Jose, Province of San Jose, Costa Rica michaelandsuzy... in fresh as well as sea water, and swim up rivers, and have very often be know to attack humans!! There were lots of islands on the lake, most of them owned by millionaires as holiday homes, one guy brought 3 monkeys to one island and kept them there, it was a bit sad as it was natural for them to be there, we gave them some bananas though to cheer them up. Behind Granada are two large active volcano's, they have cloud forest on them - like rainforest, but shrouded in ...
San Jose, Province of San Jose, Costa Rica damosarahIts the night before I go home and wow has this been an adventure. The last few days in Mal Pais were great. I saw some amazing sunsets, have a nice tan, and read some really good books (thats right plural). For those of you who truly know me know that I don´t read that much, so you must know I was really relaxing and vegging ...
Alajuela, Costa Rica allieadventuresI love this place and I´m never coming back!! Today was awesome. I took an 11 hour highlights tour and it was incredible. Especially the boat ride down Rio Sarapaqui. Our boat driver, Ronny, was incredible. He truly does have eagle eyes. He´d spot something, pull in closer and it would still take us a minute to find what he´s spotted while moving down the middle of the river! We saw iguanas, basilisks, howler ...
