... us with paper and pen in hand, all was ok, we were going to get food. (Backup did arrive in the form of Mamma, to the kitchen, and Pappa on service!) Lunch was nice, pizza or gnocchi pesto. Refreshed (and Abbie with better colour and far more lively) we headed back up the hill, and down that staircase, to the station. On hearing an announcement from a distance, and seeing a crowd on the platform we ran the last fifty metres and ...

Home for showers and bed, we plan to get on the local train tomorrow and head back to one of the Cinque terre towns, and then walk between a few of the towns along the coast, stopping somewhere for lunch. We are pretending that we are aboard a ship so everything must be kept very tidy. Big day walking. Logged in at least 10 miles. First went up the ascensore (the elevator) to a magnificent overlook of the whole city. Came back down and started our walking tour going ...

... Columbus set sail on his trips around the globe. It is also one of the oldest cities in Italy. Add to that the fact that Genoa is home to a big aquarium - the largest in Italy, and second largest in Europe - and we had ourselves a destination! First off, Genoa was far easier to enter and then navigate than Bologna, scoring it huge points right off the bat. The hotel was easy to find, and located right next to the aquarium. We couldn't check in to the hotel ...
