... be and ended up being the best veal and olive oil drenched potatoes I have ever tasted. We are now back in camp after walking back up the million steps chilling out writing this sitting on step beside reception as it is only place to get wifi but at least here it is free (we have paid almost everywhere in Italy for wifi) Tomorrow we head for a better place on French Riviera between Monaco and Nice if it is any good we will stop for 2-3 ...

... or palaces. They are all built to a similar plan, big entrance, into an open court yard and then buildings on four sides around it. It can't have been very convenient, it must have been a very long way round indoors. Most are now occupied by banks but some allow you to look in. Cassandra and I also enjoyed dancing in front of the main fountain.

... city is very compact and squeezed by the mountains which come right down to the sea. We went for a quick drive into the hills but it was a stormy night and the visibility poor.

... Sites. I toured three palazzi which are now museums: Palazzo Tursi, which houses two Paganini violins ; Palazzo Bianco (the white palace) and Palazzo Rosso (the red palace). Palazzo Rosso had a fantastic panaromic view of the Old City, port and mountains from the rooftop.

I visited the Church of St Luke in Piazza S. Luca and saw Il Grechetto's (Giovanni Benedetto Castiglione's) ...

... showed up soon after and walked us through the crazy maze of alleyways that weave all over Venice. The apartment was fantastic. A master bedroom, single bedroom, lounge with a single sofa bed and a really well equipped kitchen. We've got a quiet little square right out front and sit just a 3min walk from the Grand Canal. My goodness, this is another 'heaven' moment...... WE'RE IN VENICE!!!!!!!!!! We dropped the packs, kids ...
