The tiniest country in the world

The map pin is in the wrong place. San Marino is a tiny republic just west of Rimini, on the east coast of Italy. We accidentally discovered it after leaving the extremely crowded beaches of Rimini and wandering behind a car with San Marino license plates. Suddenly we found ourselves in a tiny country inside Italy! It was charming and we decided...

Summer in Italy

So sorry for the delay. This trip was taken back in July 2008. The boys and I met my dear friend Kati and her son Sergio at the airport in Rome. From there, we took the train to Fondi. This village is a little over 1 hour south of Rome. Our main goal for this trip was to get a bit of sun and water, but we also wanted to spend some time in Rome. ...

Arrivederci Italia

It was the last day, that great day of our travels... The Church in Italy bid us "Arrivederci" on the beach releasing one balloon for each person here for the celebration. It was quite a sight. Now it is evening/almost morning and everyone is celebrating around the Piano Man. We leave for Paris tomorrow at 2:30pm.

Last Great Day

Morning services were in Italian. Angelo Di Vita talked about family values. The choir sang the "Chorus of the Hebrews Slaves" in English and Italian! Carmelo Anastasi gave the sermon on building the house of God. Afternoon services started at 3. Greg Thomas spoke on God restoring the earth and its people. He told a person story about his own fa...

7th Day - Rome Tour

Church services were an hour early so we could leave for the Rome Tour. Alan Hambleton spoke on Spiritual Refreshment. David Witt's sermon focused on how the use of our time today has everything to do with our future. We ate a quick sack lunch that the hotel packed for us and we left around 11:30. Once we arrived in Rome we had four hours to wal...

Slowing Down a "Little"

Sabbath activities included a stroll along The Med, after morning services. We experienced the highest wave action to date but it was not anything too severe. And Saturday night, the girls performed in a talent show. Today's activities included Beach Day and a dance with DJ Umberto. I don't think the Italianos left the floor. Dances ranges from ...

Sixth Day

Services were in Italian. Giovanni (a young adult we met but don't know his last name) spoke on truth and love. Angelo Di Vita's sermon focused on how each family is a church and the duties of the head of the household. After church we took a nap and then we walked into Sabaudia. We ate dinner at a pizza shop. The price and the food was excellen...

Fifth Day - Sabbath

We sang "Psalm 19" during church services. David Schreiber gave the sermonette over focusing on how to be a neighbor not who is our neighbor. Ken Martin's sermon was titled "The way of Cain". After church we hung out with friends and talked after church. We took a nap and talked to the parents on the phone. The talent show was that night. It sta...

Fourth Day - Vatican Tour

Our bus left for the Vatican around 7:30. We only had a few hours to walk around the entire museum so we chose not to stay with our tour guide. All the art work was breath taking and over whelming. We ran out of time but we were able to see most of it. We miss St. Peter's Basilica. We couldn't take pictures in the Sistine Chapel but it was amazi...

Ashes to Ashes...

And we are off once again... Heading to Greece...stopped in Pompeii, did a walking tour and snapped lots of photos (sorry, I'm lacking enthusiasm right now...******** tired and bored of sleeping the bus). Almost left a few people in Pompeii; Diana, Mel and Kristine (all Americans) because they didn't show up on time for departure. The bus was re...
