    Woke at 7am to our church bells but had a quiet start as we did not have to meet till 10am. Blue skies and warm. We had breakfast then I went shopping with Carol and the other girls in a tiny deli that sold all local meats, cheeses, oils, green tomato paste etc. the others all tried out their Italian while I asked Carol to order our sandwich.     ... was also wonderful with two of the best pastas I have ever tasted. While we were there, a man walked in with trays of fresh Porcini mushrooms that he had just picked. They were on one of our pastas. Some then shared a plate of baked mushrooms that were like small pieces of meat. Throw in the usual ceramic jug of local rough red and an espresso and lunch was complete......again. Derek asked for a caffe Americano (long black) ...

    Was awake a long time in the night listening to a distant dog barking. Up at nearly 8 for breakfast and hit the road by 9.45. This has been an interesting place to stay but the bathroom could be improved. One thing I learnt yesterday in the mountains is that wild crocus grows there and I did see a clump of them.     Hello Everyone. Today we had to pack up and leave our gorgeous apartment in the Amalfi Coast. We decided to visit Positano and the ceramics shop which has made all the gorgeous tiles and pottery in this apartment. The shop is amazing and has been in the same family for 4 genertions.     For dinner we had basil pesto pasta for dinner, followed by beans and carrots in vinegar and a dried meat with parmesan cheese. I can't remember what it was called, but it tasted a bit like corned beef but really thin.

    There was a big match on the TV last night. One of the local Torino teams vs a Rome team for the Italy football cup. We settled down to cheer their team to victory.
