We arrived on time at the airport in Roma, at 8:30am local time. We flew through the passport check; sleepy distracted agents hardly glanced at our passports, which did not receive a country stamp. Many tourists looking down the crater as we do, few follow a guided tour cicling the whole monster. We add another hike downhills. Some spots have little or no vegetation yet. You see the structure of the lava flows. We meet some mushroom collectors. I collect some Vesuvuis gravel I plan to make art with back home. Heavy stuff - I guess it contains quite some share of iron.
