Melbourne!

... was very nice (sweater and jeans) so it made the day very enjoyable. We also stopped at Cold Rock... YUM! For those that have never heard about it, Cold Rock is paradise for ice cream lovers!! You basically pick from 15-20 different kinds of ice cream, and then you pick what you'd want in it... they have just about every chocolate bar imaginable, candies like gummy bears and sour patch, chocolate and caramel sauce, nuts, fruits, etc. Once you pick what you want, they put the ice ...

Report from swine flu HQ! oink oink.

... from our first time in Melbourne in November ‘07, which is sound as we are real close group and all look out for each other. Most Sundays we spend the day at one of the houses chilling out and eating all day!! Everyone is mad into cooking so we have been eating some real good ****. Nice. All Irish and English too so plenty of banter. Last Sunday dinner was at ours and I baked on orange cake not realising that it was the twelfth of July!! In walks Ross to the beat of the Lambeg ...

... next to our connecting flight and given a priority security check before boarding. My boarding pass was rejected as apparently the plane was full. We were initially offered a flight 5 hours later, business class and use of the lounge, but at the last minute the superviser said that the issue had been resolved and we could board now, business class. I was speaking to a frantic lady escorting a ...

... bought us dinner at a vegetarian restaurant. Very nice! Wednesday (April 22) we are going on a day tour to Phillips Island to see penguins and kangaroos. P.S. Ryan, Grandma said you like looking at the photos of the animals, so we posted some pictures from the zoo. We miss you and Sophie and wish you were with us to visit all the animals.

And it begins...

CMB- Well, we're in Melbourne and the journey has started. Landed yesterday morning in the pouring rain. Easy flight really -Slumdog Millionaire was good, some drinking, ambien and laughing at future **** that Makely and I will do during the trip. Makely was right at home in Australia once here. Him and the cabbie, a good bloke, became best mates, of course. I think he was glad to be "home". Made our way to Dave's (American friend of Makely's) place here and were ...

Melbourne Madness and Sadness

Arriving off the ferry from Tasmania we weren't to know that the week we stayed in Melbourne would be the darkest in Victorian history. Over the next days the record temperatures climbed well over 40 degrees and terrible bush fires swept across the state at a devastating pace, wiping out entire townships. At present the fires have claimed nearly 200 lives but with hundreds still missing the number could be as high as 300. Thousands have been left homeless ...

... travelled by plane, bus, car, monorail, subway, ferry and trolley-car and stayed in 13 different places. It was a great experience although a little rushed however we are glad to be home where we don't have to look carefully at the money in our wallets and think too hard about what change to expect, people understand what we are saying, we drive on the correct side of the road, we don't have to try and work our how the taps work and we can eat our favourite foods any time.

... all around the world have an observation deck, but this building went a step further getting you a step further off of the edge. They have a transparent, glass box that takes you out into thin air and let's you hang in the box for a good minute. The cool thing about this attraction or ride is that they cart you out into the middle of the sky without seeing anything - it's opaque in the box at the start - and then in a flash they ...
