... unlike the pre-dawn torchlight procession I followed last visit. The rhododendron and berberis bushes are alive with invisible birds and a single barking deer. On top, we have the hill to ourselves. A single cloud brushes against Annapurna South. We fill up our camera memory cards and bask in the magnificent view.

On the way down, we pass Xiao Yellow, who has adopted another couple for this part of the trek. We regret not getting the chance to buy him dinner.

... hung up all our sweaty (yum) clothes and snuggled up in front of the fire. The temperature at 3,000+ metres was significantly colder, we were properly wrapped up. To keep warm that night we both squeezed onto a single bed in our sleeping bags, fully kitted out in two pairs of socks, leggings, walking trousers, base layer tops, hoodie, fleece, hat, scarf and gloves! ... I guess, but we were freezing!! We spent the day alternating between heading outside, doing many starjumps etc (to get the blood pumping) and ordering many many hot teas (which didn’t stay hot for long) and staring at our own breath inside the lodges. Had the sun been out I’m sure we would not have been so cold, however at close to 3000m in elevation it was very damp and very cold.
