Bonsoir (Evenings in Paris)

... to live music in front of the Eiffel Tower, people are out and about. Plus, the water shines at night from the lights of boats, streetlights, and spotlights over bridges. It’s such a beautiful sight!

The first night Vicki and I ventured out to Berthillion, an ice cream parlor known for their delicious French ice cream. Having never had French ice cream, I was eager to try it. We waited in a line of Parisians and tourists for close to 45 ...

La Tour de France

... of Australians, many of whom had followed the entire length of the Tour, who had large blow up Kangaroos, Australian flags and a lot of green and gold paraphrenalia. Beer was easily available and as the afternoon wore on, the singing of Waltzing Matilda, "more beer, more beer, more beer, more beer", and shouts of Aussie, Aussie, Aussie, Oi, Oi, Oi, got louder and louder. We also had some company from some Belgians ...

Paris arrival

... price as in Aus, only it's in Euros here! We met Trish and Jim who had arrived from Copenhagen on our second day there. Thanks Mum for sending 'Wubby' over with Trish. We visited Notre Dame, the Treasury, walked to the Lourve, Mont Marte where we climbed the 300 steps to the top. We then had our first taste of Escargo at a little restaurant in Mont Marte, along with Fois Gras and delicious duck. Thursday we woke early and headed out for our first run in Paris ...

Best of Paris in One Day!

... boat. Took the full 1 1/2 hour boat ride all the way around to rest and see the sites. Worked perfectly as that was the last full circle tour! When we got off at the Eiffel Tower, Darin and I both got crepes and Mom bought a music CD of Indian (Peruvian?) flute music. Go figure. The lines weren't long to go up the tower so we headed up to take a look. Very nice as the sun went down - cool with a nice sunset view. Of course, we were hungry ...

J'adore Paris

... signs to indicate where to find your favorite designer. And everything costs at least 100 euros. And we got to see what we wanted, which was lots and lots of Parisians. Parisians who even apparently thought I was French, because they asked me for directions :) We also went to Versailles and it was fun to see where Marie Antoinette lived. Unfortunately it was raining, like how it was most of the time, and we didn't feel like braving the torrential downpour to ...

... and into the marketplace. Then we visited Amanda and Rebecca on the mega yacht they are working on called "Ectasea" which was just a bloody awesome boat. This mega yacht is owned by the Russian Oil billionaire, Abrovich, who also owns Chelsea football club. This thing was over 200 feet long and has 4 Rolls Royce engines and also has the largest jet propulsion engine on a private vehicle in the world which burns 5000 euro worth of fuel in one hour and costs 1.2 million per year to maintain ...

London to Paris

... Once we got to Dover, the bus drove right onto a ferry and we crossed over into France. The ferry itself was like a mini cruise boat. THey had slots, a lido deck where you could get food and various lounges and shops. We get into France and drive a couple hours and stop at a rest station. I ordered in French. We finally get into Paris around 4:45. After resting a bit, we went down for a dinner and then a bus tour of Paris. As we drove through the drive ...

Paris, France

My trip to Paris took place on my first available weekend after the start of my Austria program. Everybody else in the group opted out of going because they were required to stay behind. There was a mandatory visit to an art museum for all students in Vienna 1900, which is an art apreciation class. I find that I actually really enjoy art, but on my own terms and with out being required to stare at any single work for to long. I chose Paris because I have always wanted to ...
