      Temple on the lake

... out in them. There was a beautiful entrance gate into another part of the temple and a performance area with a great ceiling and carved pillars.

We then continued our drive to Ubud, arriving just before dark. We were staying at Alas Petulu Cottages which had lovely gardens. It felt like we were staying in a private bungalow because we couldn’t see any other rooms from our place. We had the top floor and Nalini and Shankar stayed downstairs. We ...

"Yes, shopping!" - "Nein, lass uns in Ruh"

... I even enjoyed going to the monkey forest on the way home.

Because our excursion was nearly two hours drive away we got a fantastic look at the towns and villages on the way. Very third worldly of course. No shock to me but can be for some of our travelers who had not seen it ...

... day. Huge mistake. It was insane how much they laughed and mocked us this time. It was exactly like the Seinfeld episode when Elaine asks what they are laughing at her and when she asks what is funny they say. Ohhh sani tell a knock knock joke. We actually asked them what is so funny and thy laughed and looked at us then carried on. Kate and I both at the same time said the ONLY reason we would ever come back here ...

      Bargaining in Bali

... have met in the middle at $30, but this wasn't a total fail since it's still $5 less than what the tour guide said it might be. I have to get better at this bargaining thing, but this was only day 1.

For dinner, we went for Indonesian food. We each got a main course and a beer and the total bill came to the equivalent of $13 CDN. The food was great and the drink well needed after my day of "bargaining" with the locals in Bali!
