... than listening to western pop music played at ear-shredding volume until well past midnight ( who doesn't) During the daytime, after a gaggle of lovely Malaysian cleaning ladies have polished the floor, cleaned the bathroom and done the washing up, we spend a long time just standing about and revelling in the space and the quiet. I already miss this place and I've only just arrived.

... the place I was intending to stay didn't work out. Labuan has TONS of hotels so I knew that at the very least I would have somewhere to stay. One of the girls that I asked for help worked at a yogurt shop that just happened to have wifi and she let me use their wifi so that I could figure out where to stay. Trip advisor was giving me some ideas, although it would have been nice to be able to call and ask for prices before I decided on a place.

After a terrifying journey on a double decker bus in a storm, we arrived in the ghetto of Borneo - Sandakan. Sea View Hostel welcomed us with open arms, banana fritters and Sabah tea! We didn't realise at the time but the women who ran this hostel would soon become our surrogate Malaysian family. ... a day trip (95) so I asked around and found that I could take a local bus to the ferry for 60p, get the boat to the National Park for 4 and entry charge another 2. That seemed a better option to me! 11.20 return. The organised trips took the same boat but had their own transport instead of a bus and of course provided a guide. Luckily I met four lovely people on the bus there, Todd from America, Kevin from Paris, Lennie from Panang and Oat from Bangkok. ...
