... things about their habits, really adding to the whole experience. I named the only male we saw Dirk Kuyt, pretty much because I do love Dirk though the resemblance still needed some work - nowhere near the same work ethic going on either. We cruised back to the bank for some tea, where a nice selection of freshly cooked noodles, rice, chicken, fish, veg and egg offer were awaiting us. More chatting to the nice Brit-Aus couple, and as much food as could be politely eaten, ...

The Apartment

For an hour we watched two young, rehabilitated orang-utans battle over food with a troop of long-tailed macaques around the feeding station. It was great to watch and once both primates had taken their fill even some local squirrels got involved on the feeding frenzy. With the main ...

... 3 and a half hours. We did our best to get as warm as we could before we made our way back down the mountain. It was at this stage that we realized that we had managed to get further than most - I know we were two freaks sitting up in the cold on a rock, but we were at 3600 metres then, only 400 metres from the summit. So, we actually felt pretty good at breakfast and enjoyed sharing our drama with a few others. Most were amazed we had done the rope section, given the ...
