... quiet streets, Roman ruins and temples, Baroque period homes, Venetian mask shops and loads of cute kittens romping in the streets. Compared to southern Croatia, we felt very much a home here. This is more our kinda traveling, with nooks and crannies to explore, the calm and clear sea to quiet our souls and open spaces to play in. We can tell already that Istria is full of the natural wonders and surprises we enjoy.

... named by his guru, and then moved to NYC, then back again to Split for the bakery.

We headed back to the car with our goodies, and began our long 6 hour journey to Istria.

I had read about a bear refuge center in the mountains on the way to Rovinj, so we decided to head there on our way up. This center takes care of bears and cubs that have been injured, abandoned or lost their mothers. They have 8 brown bears in their care ...
