Sooo it has been almost two weeks of Camp Croatia...
It is a summer camp social experiment through and through.
Nothing too exciting has occurred, just long hours of presentations, day trips into the city of Pula, oh, and laying on the rocky beach in our swimsuit on December 2 and 3. I even got a little color in my cheeks. When the weather is nice, Croatia is nice ...
Decided to clump together the last few days as not really got much to tell woke up in hospital after a terrible nights sleep and the doctor came around and said that I could go home but had to wait until I had been in there for 24 hours so Ian came and got me and we got a taxi back to the room which cost 74 pounds the ripping off monster. But hoping can keep the reciepts and claim it back when we speak to ...
Rovinj, Istria, Croatia traceybelle... me and what where the acoustics like. He told me to come up and see him so I was on my way up when I thought it would be funny to pretend I was a gladiator on a horse and started trotting into the arena next minute my leg went something pulled in my calf I know now that it was only a pulled muscle but I was in agony and Ian was laughing thinking my horse had gone lame.
I tried to hobble over to some ...
... joked around for awhile, Jeff suggested that we go up to the sundeck as we cruised into Rovinj. So we got dressed and headed topside. We didn't end up going directly to Rovinj, but instead anchored near a beach and island off of Koversada, a few miles north of Rovinj.
The guys were a little nervous about going to a bare beach so we first pulled out the water toys nearby and played around in the ...
... Upon crossing the border, the train stops for half an hour and the "Show of the Uniformed People" starts: first it's the hungarian passport controller's turn, next it's time for the hungarian customs control, the next one is the croatian passport controller, of course, and finally it's the croatian customs controller's turn. Oh my god! I want Croatia in the European Union NOW!! "Something to declare ...
Pula, Istria, Croatia chinaskiRovinj is set on a small peninsula on the Istrian coast of Croatia, which is famous for its fine wines and truffles. Photos of Rovinj have appeared in advertisements and international travel publications, and it's one of Croatia's most scenic small coastal towns.
The medieval old city is a tangle of narrow, steep streets and steps leading ...
... Its absolutely crystal clear and a lovely temperature. I got a bit frazzled witht the heat, but a nice cool shower when we were back at the hostel sorted that out. Had a few beers and some fish in town... Pula is quite expensive and we are hoping that further away from the city we will spend a bit less cash. The weather hasnt been great today, quite overcast and weve had a thunderstorm or 2 this afternoon. Fingers crossed for the rest of the week. Photos to come later...
Pula, Istria, Croatia dell_abbs... the local Karlovachko beer all seems right with the world. Eminently hospitably, he also had a penchant for not worying about tallying up the coffees at the end of the meal and would even throw in a bit of his seemingly homebrewed white spirit for free as well. Elsewhere, unfortunately, the tourist rort was well and truly on. Fed by European tourists, the locals have learned - then bettered - European pricing. Internet prices five times ...
Pula, Croatia claude_and_iain... All the while the wind is blowing and the tarp is threatening to break. Hopefully that would be it, just some very high winds, but no... it had to start to thunder and lighting. Alex is afraid of lightning and I couldn't help but remember that the tent poles are made of aluminum (it seemed like a bad thing in a thunderstorm) and after a short debate we were outside of our tent, back in the rain, and running ...
Pula, Croatia kacampau... would. I came out of the toilet to find the bus driving off down the road, I started sprinting off after it and caught it about 400m down the road when it had to stop at the lights. I crawled aboard knowing that I was lucky that lights had turned red, the fact that I was totally out of breath and red faced seemed totally irrelevant - I was just lucky! Pula is kind of ugly and doesn't have alot going for it, its Italian heritage pronounced it is still ...
