Sunshine, sea, a bit of a laugh

... on Wednesday morning.

>>>> Our final day and half at La Manga proved to be a tour de force of fun and games; this in the form of a Whist drive (more fun than you might imagine) and a Quiz night (a litre of gin - well done Bill - and 40 Euros - well done Lym). We left La Manga having spent a very relaxing and fun-filled few days with Annabelle's parents, and it was off to Madrid for a one night stopover with Toni and family....

The journey begins

The day as finally arrived to begin our 6 month break, away from the damp, wet climate of Mid Wales. The plan is to drive from here to Portsmouth to catch the Pride of Bilbao ferry bound for Bilbao, a journey that takes about 36 hours. The only part to worry about is the crossing across the ...

Return of the Mand.

Well would you believe it? I've been working for the last 2 days. A friend of Dave's who I met a couple of weeks ago needed a Brickie to build a couple of pillars. So, I dusted off the old trowel. It's been a long time but you never lose it.

Amanda is back tonight. I'm picking her up at Alicante Airport at about 11.30pm. Lucy and me have really missed her and we are both looking forward to seeing her...Ahhh.

Turn it on again

I got up nice and early and was outside the Bank at 8.30 when they opened. I explained the situation and they asked me for the fax receipt which I didn't have. After a lot of huffing and puffing by the cashier she went and got out my paper file. Low and behold there was the receipt that they neglected to give to me the last time. It was duly resent and this time I made sure I had both receipts...Memo to self...Make sure you ...

Tune in -Turn on-Cut off

Sorted out a T.V. package. The lads are coming to install it today so I'll be able to keep up with what's happening in the world. The telephone and Internet connection is being fitted tomorrow so I'll be fully contactable at last!

The lads came to fit the T.V. I've got a satellite dish on the roof which wouldn't look out of place at Heathrow...I hope it's not the one Del Boy had fitted on his balcony in that episode of only fools and horses!! I don't want to ...

Leaving on a Jet Plane

We have been having a really lazy time for the past 10 days or so except for the cleaning and unpacking of course. Apart from a couple of bike rides into San Miguel one of the neighboring towns we haven't been far.

The weather has remained ...

And the Lord said; "let there be light"

... reply...Well this is Spain and everything happens Manana so what did we expect?

Another cold shower and ready to go out with the fading light...Amanda had to go to the hairdresser this afternoon as she could no longer stand not being able to do her hair!
We're going to treat ourselves to one of our favorite Restaurants "The Square" that should cheer us up...Well that's our excuse anyway.

Walking home, bathed in the after ...

Manana...Manana...Manana!

... We couldn't offer them a cold beer because of the electric issue...So, we made do with a couple of bottles of red and and a culinary feast of Burgers from Che takeaway...sitting out on the Balcony by candle light...Well a battery lantern but candle light sounds so much more cosy.

Hopefully we'll be re-connected tomorrow.

An electric shock on arrival!

... and started again this morning, although that's probably because we daren't switch anything on for fear of draining the battery!
Another beautiful day breaks as we hit the Madrid ring road at rush hour. Thankfully, we seem to be going in the right direction as most of the traffic is heading in the other direction to us.

Driving over the Mountains certainly is tough going...Oh for power steering...But, we are making good time, the scenery ...

... The first thing we did was open a bottle of red wine (thanks Auntie B) Two bedrooms full bathroom with a bidet that the kids think is amusing. They have a full kitchen and front and back patios. The patios have some amazing plants a lemon or lime tree a kumquat tree some kind of palm and so much more. We have lunch out there today it was lovely. The washing machine is currently on and Bob and the kids are down the walk using the private pool. The sun is hot but the villa is ...
