... I would have to cycle 70 miles the next day. I am not going to lie, I was scared.
Quote of the day from Alex: "its illegal to wear clothes on a nuddist beach".
Also, a bit of advice, nuddist beaches are full af pretty mental people. Generally though, people who are just walking around thinking "hey, look how much I dont care, whatever man, its natural". So, I´m lying there thinking "who cares how much you care","what you are is mental". We stayed just ...
... asking to use there computer in an estate agent (they politely refused) and buying a peach in a supermarket just so we could ask the cashier who ended up drawing us a map on the back of a receipt.
After an amazing meal was cooked for us we drank beers and exchanged travelling stories with Tracy (who had backbacked for 8 years). Then off to bed. . . . in an actual bed. normal = good
Waking up late and having a lovely breakfast of old biscuits sets you up perfectly for riding on the motorway. The thing about cycling on the motorway is everybody driving on it wants to beep you. Why? i ask. Are you truly concerned for our safety? if so dont panic us by f-in beeping next to us! We are already dealing with loads of glass on the hard shoulder, articulated trucks flying ...
Águilas, Murcia, Spain chris_jones01... these guys on a corner smoking pot therefore we decided we would ask them for directions. They were so nice they got in their car and asked us to follow them and took us straight to the condo where we were staying. The condo was O.K. but not well maintained, The air condition wasnt working,
a lot of weeds at the entrance and the patio in the back. We had to clear the weeds in the front because there were ...
I had to wean myseft away from the area, and the next day just drove a bit up the coast, past more un(der)-developed beaches at Escullos and El Playazo, and ended up staying in Las Negras, another fishing village which is sleepy by the water-front but with massive construction going on behind it.
Las Negras, Andalusia, Spain and Canary Islands travellerbruceReturned to San Jose. Next day drove around to the town of Cabo de Gata, saw the salt-pans, went up the the "Cape", saw the incredible beach of Cabo de Gata, had great lunch there, then went around to the beach at Monsul. Eventually decided I HAD to leave!!
San Jose, Burgundy, Spain travellerbruce... as I did, that you could buy tickets from the driver, and he didn't want to disturb his munching. Lazy sod. The information desk at Almeria bus station told me that the bus to San Jose was at 12.30, but they'd forgotten it was Saturday and so I had to wait around for a couple of hours. Leaving Almeria, the road becomes surrounded by acres and acres of polythene-covered hot-houses. The landscape appears to be one vast white sheet ...
San Jose, Andalusia, Spain and Canary Islands travellerbruce... the locals don't have two heads or glow in the dark, so it can't have done any long-term harm. It's a comfortable campsite with very spacious pitches and everyone is very friendly, though I rather wish the greybeard loon at the end of our row hadn't brought his accordion with him. This area must be the salad-bowl of Spain, if not Europe - we're surrounded with acres of lettuce fields and hundreds of ...
Garrucha, Andalusia, Spain and Canary Islands oldagetraveller... is Brazilian and divorced from Dad (who is half French and half Dutch), I'm English (and regularly confused) whilst the kids normally travel on a French passport... OK!... this time they're travelling on their Brazillian passports (you know, just to keep things simple). Hence having to go to the Brazillian consulate to certify everything in Madrid.... This has been going on for the last 2 weeks. Firstly due to Spanish beurocracy being what it is, and secondly ...
Arboleas, Spain capnconway... assignments and tests this week. I got an 83% on a culture quiz and an 85% on an art paper. Normally, B's would bother me to no end...but I'm in Spain!!! I know where my priorities lie, and studying is not one of them. I need to tell you all about the Andalusian accent!!! Many people in Spain say that those from Andalucia do not know how to speak. They speak very quickly and do not pronounce half of the words they say. For example: *C's in the middle ...
