Today I woke up because my body decided it was no longer tired. This is very rare. After I had a shower, a cooked breakfast, a coffee, washed clothes (thanks to Tracy), loud music, and a game on a Nintedo wii. To put this in perspective, the previous morning I was chased by a tractor and ran over a perfectly flat dog. We felt like kings.

We then spent a majority of the day relaxing and drinking the beer Tracy gave us and decided to cook her dinner as ...
Vera, Andalusia, Spain chris_jones01... seen his face, there was no emotion, there was only shock. Alex was almost sick after taking a look. I suppose, on the plus side, maggots are high in protein and we had been doing alot of cycling. Swings and roundabouts.

When we finally arrived at Tracy´s we where greeted with a crate of beer. Perfect. After we were a little drunk we went on a mission for an internet cafe. The mission ...
Vera, Andalusia, Spain chris_jones01... cycling yet. We were supposed to nail 100 miles to make it to Tracy's but after a full day of effort we only managed 75. Anyway, during this epic uphill struggle we encountered a petrol station in the middle of no where. Here they had a hose pipe where we could riskily fill our water bottles. It was at this point i decided to add the quote of the day section.

Whilst Alex was ...
Águilas, Murcia, Spain chris_jones01... talent festival in Palomares and the people in all of these villages were very friendly! We ate at Dannys pizza in Palomares square and it was absolutely delicious. Actually everywhere we ate along the coast the food was terrific. When you're in Spain be sure to visit the coastal villages along Almeria.

Start of travels: Jul 25, 2009
End of travels: Jul 31, 2009

Palomares,Vera, Garrucha, MoJacar, Andalusia, Spain must_travelI had to wean myseft away from the area, and the next day just drove a bit up the coast, past more un(der)-developed beaches at Escullos and El Playazo, and ended up staying in Las Negras, another fishing village which is sleepy by the water-front but with massive construction going on behind it.
Las Negras, Andalusia, Spain and Canary Islands travellerbruceReturned to San Jose. Next day drove around to the town of Cabo de Gata, saw the salt-pans, went up the the "Cape", saw the incredible beach of Cabo de Gata, had great lunch there, then went around to the beach at Monsul. Eventually decided I HAD to leave!!
San Jose, Burgundy, Spain travellerbruce... salt-pools to the Cape. The views were spectacular, particularly of the beach which runs for about 20 miles around the bay towards Almeria. I sat and read my book in a restaurant on the front, and had a wonderful 3-cheese salad. Yummy. With the car at my disposal, I went off and discovered Monsul Beach, another almost-empty space with beautiful water, and then went back to San Jose to pack up. Not easy, as I'd had such a relaxing time there.
San Jose, Andalusia, Spain and Canary Islands travellerbruce... villages did not inspire us with much confidence, until we actually got to this town, which is as one local put it, the best kept secret in Spain. This place is quite remarkable, though it´s not easy to explain why. Here in Mojacar, relaxation takes on a whole new meaning, probably because the rules of the universe are somehow alterered and time does not seem to work in the same way! We are staying in a resort the kind you see only in old-fashioned ...
Mojacar, Spain and Canary Islands taviniSo we made it down to a little exclusive beach that we were looking for, thanks to a few handy hints from a guy who worked at the funky backpackers where we were staying in Granada. After a few very warm bus rides later and a few lucky connections we made it to down to Las Negras on the mediterainen coast at about 8pm. we were planning to stay on the beach overnight, the weather is warm enough to do this but as we had no where to put our huge packs (yes they are huge, mine ...
Las Negras, Spain salkelely... no further supply of money. La Alhambra: Even the Alhambra has its own history. It began as a VERY small section called the Alcazaba. THis was just used to protect the Albaycin and the royal family. It later expanded to include the wall which surrounds the entire Alhambra. Each royal family that lived inside its walls built a palace. The Generalife (NOT pronounced "General-Life" although that was its purpose), a huge palace outside the Alhambra was an escape for the religious leader ...
