Today was a day of travel.

We had bekky at the Xi’an hotel and they are always
wonderful then departed for the airport.

Breakfasts in our hotels have all been full of variety.
There are many cereals and a variety of yoghurts and fruits and fruit juices
and eggs all made to order and that’s just the western foods. The Chinese selections
are even larger. We don’t tend to have them as weird meats and ...

After laughing at the absurdity of two grown women racing 20-somethings upstairs to the top deck for a view, we nabbed a prime spot, and were joined by our husbands who found us shortly after. It was a beautiful trip with a cool breeze back across the river.

We returned home, and the crash came. Good night, Shanghai!

... Chinese garden. Beautiful rooms, pagoda shapes, cherry blossoms in bloom, koi ponds and a wall that is topped by a dragon whose body encircles the entire thing. An interesting note this year is that Alex, our guide, pointed out two traditional iron lions which flank one of the portals in the garden. Apparently, during the Japanese invasion, the Japanese were determined to take the lions back to Tokyo. But, since the 800 year old lions, which are about 4 foot tall and made ...

          A Private Conversation

I just found out something really disappointing :) I had some of my students write a story for a newspaper, and one of them, who IS really good at English, wrote something that raised a question inside me. He seemed to get an idea straight away and titled it 'A Private Conversation', he then wrote a couple of sides of paper in very good English about a somebody going to see ...
