... seem to be a series of swimming pools filled with hot water from near by springs, mostly located in developed/urban areas. Strawberry is a delightful exception. Located a 20-minute drive down a steep, narrow dirt road, it is set in a very natural setting. It offers a series of stone enclosed pools with sand bottoms, each slightly cooler than the preceding. An extra treat was the thunder and intermittent rain showers while we soaked.

... up the gondola and skied Sunnyside which runs near the Elkhead chair to warm up before moving to other areas of the mountain. Not many people on that run. Today there were lots of groomed runs so my legs got a break. Lunch was at Hazie’s and was a grilled brie cheese sandwich with a cup of cheese bacon soup for me. After lunch we skied Twilight and other easier trees and finished the day with the small moguls between Vagabond and Surprise.

... boggy green meadows and finally arrived at Steam Boat Springs. Not the quaint ski village expected but rather a sprawling mountainside town. Very extensive ski runs though that looked really good. There seemed to be a ski village but couldn't quite find it so went to the main township for dinner. Ate at the Old Town Pub.
